Sermorelin vs CJC-1295 - my honest breakdown after running both for months

ok so ive been meaning to write this up for a while now and finally getting around to it. been doing a lot of research lol (we all know what that means) with both of these GHRHs and wanted to share what ive observed because theres a lot of conflicting info out there

BACKGROUND

so i ran sermorelin first for about 10 weeks then switched over to CJC-1295 without DAC for another 12 weeks. both solo runs basically so i could actually compare apples to apples. im not gonna pretend im some expert but ive done my homework and tracked everything pretty carefully

---

SERMORELIN

dosed at 300mcg subq before bed. pretty standard protocol, nothing fancy

the good stuff - sleep quality went INSANE within like week 2. like legitimately the best sleep of my life and i noticed it almost immediately. recovery was noticeably better, skin looked cleaner idk how to explain it but people were asking what i was doing differently lol. libido uptick too which was a nice bonus. hunger was manageable, nothing crazy

the bad - results felt slow. like painfully slow if ur impatient like me. the half life is super short which means ur basically getting one pulse and then its done. also the price per mg is kinda annoying because you blow through it fast at decent doses. sourced mine from limitless life nootropics, quality seemed solid, testing came back clean when i sent a vial out

negatives continued - some water retention in weeks 3-5 which was annoying. nothing dramatic but enough to notice. also injection site got a lil irritated a couple times, think i was just being sloppy with technique tbh

overall rating for sermorelin - 7/10. solid entry level GHRH, great for sleep and recovery but u gotta be patient and the cost adds up

---

CJC-1295 NO DAC

switched to this after reading a ton about the longer half life and honestly i was skeptical because it seemed TOO similar to sermorelin on paper

dosed at 100mcg twice daily, morning and pre bed. some guys go higher but i wanted to keep it conservative for research purposes

holy crap the difference in body composition changes were more noticeable with this one. like weeks 4-6 i was seeing actual changes in the mirror, leaner around the midsection, fuller muscles, the whole thing. energy during workouts was better too. recovery still great, maybe even slightly better than sermorelin

the stacking potential here is way better imo. been reading about pairing with ipamorelin and the synergy makes way more sense with CJC since the timing works better practically speaking

negatives - water retention was MORE of an issue here in the beginning. like notably more. also the first couple weeks i had some pretty gnarly headaches, think it was blood sugar related, kept some glucose nearby just in case. crashed hard a couple times after morning dose if i didnt eat soon after

also important - DO NOT mess around with the DAC version unless u know what ur doing. thats a whole other beast with different pulse mechanics and i wasnt ready for that research lol. staying in my lane

sourced CJC from peptide sciences, same as a lot of you guys prob already use. prices are fair and ive never had a bum batch

overall rating for CJC no DAC - 8.5/10. edges out sermorelin for actual body comp changes but the sides in the first month are a bit rougher

---

MY HONEST TAKE

if ur brand new to GHRH research start with sermorelin. its gentler, the sides are milder, and it gives u a baseline understanding of how ur body responds to this class of peptide. sleep improvements alone make it worth it imo

if ur intermediate and u want actual noticeable physique changes go CJC no DAC. just be smart about the headache thing and eat after ur morning dose, learned that the hard way multiple times lol

both are legit options and anyone saying one is trash vs the other is probably just simping for whatever they personally use. they serve different purposes at different stages of ur research journey

biggest thing i cant stress enough - SOURCE MATTERS. both of these can be bunk or underdosed from sketchy vendors and ull just be pinning bac water basically. spend the extra few bucks on reputable sources and get ur stuff tested if ur serious

anyway thats my breakdown, happy to answer questions if anyone has em. whats everyone else running?

omg gainz_peptide_bro this is literally the post i needed like 6 months ago 😭 thank you for writing this all out!!
gainz_peptide_bro wrote:sleep quality went INSANE within like week 2. like legitimately the best sleep of my life
YES this is exactly what happened to me with sermorelin!! i started it mostly because i was sleeping like absolute garbage and a friend in another forum recommended it and honestly the sleep thing hit me even faster than week 2?? like by day 10 i was waking up feeling actually RESTED for the first time in forever. my fitbit was showing way better deep sleep numbers too which was so validating lol

and the skin thing u mentioned - i swear my boyfriend noticed before i did. he kept asking if i switched moisturizers or something 😂 nope just research chemicals bestie

i havent crossed over to CJC yet but ur breakdown is making me think about it more seriously. im not super focused on body comp changes rn (well ok i mean i WANT them lol) but my main thing has always been the sleep and anti-aging side of things so sermorelin has been checking those boxes for me

100% agree with this as someone who is very much still a beginner. the learning curve feels manageable and i never felt like anything was totally out of control side effect wise. little bit of water retention in week 4ish but nothing scary

ur point about sourcing is SO important btw, cannot stress that enough either 🙏

Slightly off topic but this thread reminded me of something I have been meaning to bring up for a while now, and since we are already in GHRH territory I figure this is close enough.

This is genuinely sound advice, and it also applies to the literature. I remember the first time I tried to read through the original Thorner et al. work on GHRH analogs and I was absolutely convinced I had wandered into a foreign language textbook by accident. Took me three cups of coffee and a considerable amount of humility to get through it.

Which actually raises a question I have been sitting on for a while now. Has anyone in this thread ever tried explaining to a non-researcher friend exactly what a GHRH analog is and watched their eyes glaze over in real time? Because I gave a colleague what I thought was a concise and accessible summary once, and by minute three he was staring at me the way my dog looks at a ceiling fan. Polite but utterly uncomprehending.

Anyway. Good thread. The comparison methodology here is more disciplined than what I usually see posted, and xX_SleepQueenXx your fitbit data point about deep sleep architecture is actually more interesting than you might realize. There is legitimate literature on GH pulse timing and slow wave sleep that would give some mechanistic context to what you observed. But that is probably a separate thread entirely.

oh my gosh YES. i once tried to explain the whole GHRH/GHSR axis to my sister over brunch and by the end of it she just slowly pushed her eggs benedict toward me and said "so you're injecting yourself with stuff" and that was the end of that conversation lol. some people are just not built for the rabbit hole and honestly i respect it.

but yes to echo what everyone else has said here, gainz_peptide_bro this is a really solid writeup and i think the apples to apples methodology you used actually matters a lot. so many comparison posts mix in other variables and then wonder why their conclusions are all over the place.

this matches my experience almost exactly and i want to second everything xX_SleepQueenXx said too. the sleep improvement was honestly what got me hooked on GHRH research in the first place. i was dealing with really poor sleep quality for like two years and nothing was touching it. sermorelin was the first thing that made me feel like i was actually recovering overnight again. the difference in how i felt emotionally and cognitively was dramatic and i was not expecting that honestly.

and dr_peptide_curious is right that the slow wave sleep connection is genuinely fascinating. GH pulses are so closely tied to deep sleep architecture that when you support one you kind of support the other in this lovely little feedback loop. i love when the mechanism actually shows up in lived experience you know?

the body comp stuff with CJC is tempting me more and more reading this thread not gonna lie. i might be ready to make the jump soon.
